One of the amazing things about being able to take these pictures, is sometimes discovering the distant Galaxies that appear as small fuzzy patches. Using the Simbad Astronomy database, it's often possible to estimate the approximate distance the light has travelled and sometimes that is 1-2 billion light years away. If a Galaxy has a quasar, even further distances can be determined. So far, the furthest we've seen, has been approx at a distance of 10 billion light years, more than twice the age of our Solar system, and about the same age as the our Galaxy, the Milky Way...
