Meetings

Currently Formal meetings are still being held virtually via Zoom. Informal meetings are now usually a hybrid of a physical meeting at the Quakers House in Leeds and a FREE online Zoom session. Any members (or would be members) wishing to join the Zoom sessions, should contact the LAS Secretary via the Contact page.

By tradition Formal meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month; the theme is normally a lecture or presentation on a particular astronomical topic given by guest speakers or society members.

In addition Informal meetings, where members have the opportunity to show something about their interests (slides, videos, instruments, observations, etc.) occur two weeks later, also on a Wednesday. As a new feature for these Informals we are now including time for any astro-questions, or advice about telescopes and accessories, what's good in the sky at the moment and astro-photography. If you're not a member and want to participate, please Contact us and we'll send you a Zoom invitation.

Doors open at 7.00pm with meetings starting around 7.30pm and ending between 9.30 and 10pm. Zoom meetings start at 7.30pm.

There is also a meeting charge of £2 for members and £3 for non-members, to help cover hire of the venue & refreshments. (Zoom meetings are still for the time being Free)

A listing of previous Formal meetings can be downloaded here in Excel (xlsx) or PDF format.
